Wallace Memorial Baptist Church subscribes to the theology of The Baptist Faith and Message 2000 adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention. We believe "In the beginning God.." (Genesis 1:1). We believe that the first four words of the Bible are necessary for any understanding of life.We believe that humans were originally created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). The essence of that image includes holiness and the capacity to relate to a Holy God.We believe that in the original sin, all humans followed a linage of sin (Genesis 3:23; I Cor. 15:22; Romans 3:23).We believe that the virgin born incarnate Son of God, Jesus Christ, lived a perfect life, died a substitutionary death, arose from the grave on the third day, ascended into heaven, and one day soon will return with the mighty sound of the trumpet (Matthew 1:18; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Luke 24:6; John 14:1-6; Acts 1:9).We believe that the Bible is God-breathed, accurate, and without any form of error, blemish, or even any trace of untruth. It is totally reliable (II Timothy 3:16).We believe the ultimate purpose of the church on earth is to fulfill the commission of our Lord: "to win and grow people for the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ." This involves evangelism (win), discipleship (grow), worship (glory), fellowship (our), and ministry (people). We believe in a literal heaven and hell (John 14: 2-3; Revelation 21:8).We believe in the miraculous power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4).We believe that God has called us to be diverse in approach (Romans12:4-5), but unified (Romans 15:5) in our destiny. A house divided cannot stand. A house united will not fall.We believe that we must hate sin (Amos 5:22-24) and love people (John 3:16; Matthew 19:19; I Corinthians 13).
